HOOP DREAMS: WANGKATJUNGKA
We’ve finished our 5th Hoop Dreams project. Hoop Dreams reimagines basketball courts in remote Indigenous communities. Refurbished courts provide a space for communal well-being, translating the growth of House of Darwin into grassroots action. Through this initiative, youth see how their thoughts and creativity can positively impact their environment, fostering pride and unity within their communities and inspiring future generations.
A special thanks to our internal team members, Jack and Sophie who facilitated and designed the court in collaboration with the community.
Huge gratitude to the @artcourts team—Dan, Jade, and Justin—your support and drive has been the backbone of this project.
Thanks to our great mate Will at @allconstructioncontracting for replacing the backboards and making the trip from Darwin.
Thank you to @gayaadhuwi for making this possible—without you, there would be no court. Thank you Natasha, Ethan and Rachel.
Thank you to @kamskimberley for your on-the-ground guidance and commitment to the community, with Amaleed and Cheyanne leading with kindness.
Lastly, thank you to the Wangkatjungka community for welcoming us, Aunty Catherine for teaching us about your beautiful country, and allowing us to be part of this journey. It’s been an honour.
