HOOP DREAMS: NYIRRIPI

HOOP DREAMS: NYIRRIPI

We are proud to announce that the House of Darwin Foundation is partnering with the Melbourne Football Club & the Jim Stynes foundation to deliver our sixth Hoop Dreams project in Nyirripi, a remote community 460km from Mparntwe (Alice Springs).

The Nyirripi Hoop Dreams project deepens the Melbourne Demons long-standing connection with the Northern Territory. AFL vice-captain Jack Viney and AFLW captain Kate Hore, together with the House of Darwin Team recently hit the red dirt to meet Traditional Owners and kick off our community engagement.

“Sport changes lives. These courts are more than a game—they’re a heartbeat for these communities.” – Kate Hore

“We’ve played across the NT for years, but this takes it to another level. House of Darwin is doing incredible work, and we’re stoked to be part of it.” – Jack Viney

Adding to the magic, the final Nyirripi court design will feature on Melbourne’s 2026 Indigenous guernsey, bringing the artwork from the red dirt to the MCG for Sir Doug Nicholls Round.

“It means the project will live on. The community can turn on the TV, see their artwork on the MCG, and know their story is being told.” – Shaun Edwards
